Fuel Card Programs: A Vital Resource for Supporting Our Local Volunteers and Families

In the heart of the Mooloolah Valley, our community thrives on the spirit of "locals helping locals." From the dedicated team at our Op Shop to the volunteers who maintain our community gardens, the ability to get around is essential. However, with the rising costs of living, transportation has become a significant burden for many. One practical solution that is making a difference in the charitable sector is the strategic use of a Fuel Card.

Supporting the Volunteers Who Support Us At the Mooloolah Valley Community Association, we know that our volunteers are the backbone of everything we do. Whether they are collecting donations for Lifeline or assisting with disaster resilience efforts, they often use their own vehicles to serve the community. A Fuel Card program can be a transformative tool for non-profits, allowing organizations to offset the travel costs of those who give their time so generously. This ensures that a "lack of petrol" never stands in the way of a neighbor helping a neighbor.

Easing the Burden for Families in Need Transportation is often an overlooked aspect of financial hardship. For families in the 4553 area struggling to make ends meet, the cost of a commute can be the difference between reaching a medical appointment or staying home. Community-based Fuel Card initiatives—often funded through grants or Op Shop proceeds—provide a dignified way to offer emergency relief. Instead of traditional vouchers, these cards offer a flexible way for residents to maintain their independence and access essential services.

Building a Resilient Mooloolah Valley As we look toward future community projects, like our 4 Seasons Markets and neighborhood BBQs, staying connected is our priority. By exploring innovative ways to manage travel costs through Fuel Card options, we can ensure our community stays mobile, active, and supported.

If you’d like to learn more about how we support local families or if you want to join our band of volunteers, drop by the Centre on Bray Road. We’re always here for a chat and a cuppa!
